Adders Green

Adders Green is a typical moorland farm: a group of stone buildings
sheltered by trees, with 28 acres of hay meadow and summer
pasture, a small stream, and its own rocky hill with fabulous views.

The whole area is rich in wildlife, making this an ideal place for
birdwatching, especially in Spring. Look out for curlews, lapwing
and snipe in the rough pasture, and owls emerging from the woods
to hunt. Most of the farm and surrounding land is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and we have details of the flora and fauna you can expect to find here.

Well behaved dogs love it, and are welcome. Sam the Racehorse
(retired) is happy to pose for photographs with you (bring Polo
mints). Our hens have the free-est of free ranges, and we usually
have eggs available. In spring through to autumn, cows graze the
pastures.

For geologists, this is a rich area to explore; rich also in local legends and evidence of ancient settlements, tracks and trails.

There are well marked paths that can take you there - up to the Roaches, a famous beauty spot and place to go climbing, across to Ramshaw Rocks, home of the Winking Man, or down to Ludchurch, the gash in the earth which may have inspired the story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.
